POSITION OVERVIEW: 
The Missions Director is a spiritual and organizational leader who oversees the Missions Department by planning and executing the Outreach, Global Missions and Kingdom Expansion experience at Southstone Church. This position will oversee the spiritual development of the congregation regarding reaching others for Christ and partnering with local and global ministries to extend the impact of Southstone Church.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Creating and casting vision for the Outreach and Missions Department.
  • Oversee all volunteer and paid staff in the department.
  • Oversee creation of policies and procedures for the Outreach and Missions Department/Set up communication policy standards between the missions department and other departments working together to ensure quality in our daily operations.
  • Oversee community serve projects.
  • Organizing, strategizing and executing missions trips.
  • Training and equipping interns and potential missionaries to enter the mission field.
  • Connecting Southstone Church with mission field projects to aid in humanitarian relief and the spread of the Gospel (Kingdom Expansion).
  • Build a network of local and global relationships that specifically further the Southstone Church expression of ministry.
  • Direct all weekly meetings and activities as necessary.
  • Set annual goals for the Missions and Outreach department that are in line with Southstone’s Church vision and evaluate regularly how goals have been attained.
  • Be open to change and the shifting of responsibilities as growth and ministry develop.
  • Set and adhere to yearly budgets for the department.
  • Develop leaders within the Missions department to lead both local and global mission opportunities and trips.
   
COMPETENCY / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
  • Passionate about the outreach and impact of the local church.
  • Proven and effective as a leader in a large church setting.
  • Must possess a genuine humility and work well in the context of a team.
  • Authenticity is a must. (The same person “off stage” as you are “on stage”)
  • Able to succeed in a high expectation production environment.

  QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS 
  • A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a vital, growing personal relationship with Him.
  • Sense a calling to serve in this kind of ministry role and ability to clearly articulate that calling to others.
  • Track record of success as a team builder.
  • Experience as a leader and recruiter of volunteers in Outreach and Missions.
  • Experience in event planning and execution.
  • Missions connections/ background preferred.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: 
A Preferred degree or extensive experience in communications, Christian Ministries or related field. 

PROFESSIONAL / WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 
5 years of ministry leadership experience. Preferred 5+ years' experience in related fields or a field which experience can benefit the operations of this department.  

PHYSICAL DEMAND REQUIREMENTS: 
Able to physically perform the duties outlined above.
